An integral part of the UK’s Home Front defence, it was home to the newly formed 37 Squadron, Royal Flying Corp led by the then, 19 year-old Captain Ridley. It contains a few modern day general aviation light aircraft that fly from Stow Maries fairly regularly from the original and preserved grass aerodrome from 1916.
